Simple process from Preparation to Activation to Transfer

Kogenate® FS with BIO-SET®

Steps

  1. Remove cap from vial.
  2. Remove tip cap from syringe.
  3. Screw syringe into vial.
  4. Press down on syringe.
  5. Screw plunger into syringe.
  6. Push plunger down allowing diluent to go into vial.
  7. Swirl vial gently.
  8. Fill syringe.
  9. Twist off syringe from vial.
  10. Attach butterfly.

Conventional Vial-to-Vial Reconstitution

Steps

  1. Open alcohol swab.
  2. Remove caps from vials, clean with swab.
  3. Remove short cap from transfer needle.
  4. Insert end of transfer needle into rubber stopper on vial.
  5. Pull off side of transfer needle showing long end of needle.
  6. Invert vial of diluent.
  7. Push long end of needle through rubber stopper of vial.
  8. Remove needle and empty diluent vial from mixed factor vial.
  9. Gently swirl factor vial 3 times.
  10. Take syringe out of its packaging and remove the cap.
  11. Open second alcohol swab.
  12. Clean off rubber stopper of mixed factor vial again.
  13. Twist off end of filter needle.
  14. Connect filter needle to end of syringe.
  15. Twist off cap on other end of filter needle and fill syringe with air.
  16. Insert filter needle into rubber stopper of vial of mixed factor.
  17. Inject air through filter needle into vial of factor.
  18. Draw mixed factor into syringe.
  19. Remove filter needle from syringe.
  20. Connect syringe to butterfly.

Kogenate® FS, Antihemophilic Factor (Recombinant), is a recombinant factor VIII treatment indicated for the treatment of hemophilia A. The most frequently reported adverse events were local injection site reactions, dizziness, and rash. Known intolerance or allergic reactions to constituents of the preparation is a contraindication to the use of Kogenate® FS.
